Medieval poetry contains such wisdom. Thank you, I am so tired of the notion that Middle Ages were dark and unworthy of our attention. Time to tear this enlightenment wrong idea to pieces. Your writing helps.
How wonderful to read this medieval marvel! I explored Middle English in my Master's Degree days, so I could make out most of the poem without aids. Thank you once again for revealing these gems to us!
I don't know why things cut to the heart deeper when a person has to struggle a little to read them (something like a seven-church pilgrimage on foot through back ways in a hilly city where one normally drives: turning the corner and looking down on an often visited neighborhood from a novel angle and elevation) but I find that it is the case.

Always happy to un-enlighten. Many thanks for reading.

I did it again: my "translation." https://maryh10000.substack.com/p/jesus-appeals-to-man-by-the-wounds
I really, really like this meditation based on the seven deadly sins.
It's amazing - see comment on your translation. A seriously adept and musical translation. Fantastic stuff.

Well said. That line does cut the deepest in the poem.
Thanks so much for reading. I’m delighted you appreciate the awkward English. Take care & God bless.
